Kulim is located at the South East of Kedah state, in Malaysia. Kulim, as a district consist of 15 smaller sub-districts also known as "mukim".
Kulim town has grown from a small residential area back in the 50's into one of Malaysia's top industrial park area.

The estimation of Kulim's population are as below:
(Sources from "Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia")
Yr 2000 Yr 2003 Yr 2004 Yr 2005 Yr 2006
205,225 222,285 227,865 273,405 260,382

It is estimated of over 300,000 residents in Kulim by the year 2009.
Around the year 1990 till 1995, Kulim was well known for having lots of paddy fields. In Malaysia, Kedah and Perlis are the leading states that produces rice to sustain this country's demands and also for export purposes. However, much have changed over the years and now, only a few of those fields are left. I am not sure if they still produce rice for commercial purpose.
